Accounts Payable Officer

About the Role:

WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to commence at a role for a local client in Mackay. You will be working on a 3-month contract with possibility to extend in Mackay with successful candidates starting as soon as possible. Our client is a national group of companies engaged in engineering design, construction and land development for clients and partners in the urban development, transport infrastructure and resources. The Company has a strong commitment to Health and Safety, which enables to deliver a larger scale of multi-disciplinary projects all over Australia.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Accounts Payable function by providing administrative support and accounts payable processing within policies.

  • Prepare and pay invoices and credit notes in line with GST/FBT legislation and list of delegations.

  • Reconciliation of creditor accounts.

  • Maintain relevant records to support accounts payable processing and meet audit and statutory requirements.

  • Assist and advice to creditors as required.

  • Contribute to an environment of continuous improvement and a positive team culture.

  • Undertake other responsibilities as delegated by Management within the scope of this position.

About You:

  • Demonstrated experience within a similar role

  • Sound problem solving and reconciliation skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of data entry skills in a large volume organisation with a high level of accuracy and well-developed time management skills.

  • Ability to work through large reconciliations, detect anomalies or errors and problem solve appropriately.

  • Ability to exercise a degree of initiative, judgement, confidentiality, tact and discretion.

  • Ability to build and maintain working relationships within the department, and across other departments/programs.

  • Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and oversee an effective office environment.

  • Sound general knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge, of financial information system particularly, Purchasing and Accounts Payable.

  • Knowledge of, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge, of corporate systems relating to payroll and accounts payable processing.

  • Developing knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge, of policies, legislation and statutory requirements relating to payroll and accounts payable processing.
