Case Manager - OOHC/Foster Care Support

Our client is a leading Not for Profit that has been providing support & care to people across Australia since 1883. They offer help and hope to thousands of individuals every day from emergency and crisis support to homeless services, aged care support, child and family services, employment, health services and much more. Seeking a Case Manager for a 12-month contract position., who has experience in permanency OOHC or has an interest in the sector. You do not need to have experience working with children in foster care or foster carers, because what we are looking for is a case manager with heart, drive, and a focused desire for positive outcomes for the children they support and the families caring for them. You could come from child protection, early intervention, or family preservation to name a few. If you have an open and approachable nature with the ability to be creative and flexible in your approach to work, letâs talk.

Based at Penrith CBD, you will be working in a highly motivated and supportive team of 10 case managers. The team is fantastic, they love what they do and very good at what they do. Just last week they had 3 children gain guardianship and the whole team are over the moon. The manager loves investing time, training, and energy in the team, giving you the support to thrive and remain enthusiastic. You will have top of the line mobile technology to help with your workflows and supported to help minimize unnecessary tasks, that pull you away from focusing on your clients. You are given a fully maintained new vehicle, which includes insurances, servicing, registration, and petrol for work and personal use. You will also have the option to work from home once a fortnight.

In this role you will be providing safe, stable, and suitable placement for children & young already in foster care in the Penrith/Blue Mountains area. Implement support and & manage effective case management to ensure the children & young people, foster carers and family receive integrated and coordinated quality support. Assist children and young people in OOHC to gain access to services that support their placement, carers and birth families. Provide case planning in social, emotional, education and health domains the children and young people need assistance. You will also conduct regular case reviews and face to face visits with the children & young people and their foster carers.

What you need:

  • Bachelorâs qualification(s) in Social Work, Social Welfare, Psychology or related fields

  • Knowledge, skills and experience working with children and families

  • demonstrated ability to write reports to a professional standard

  • ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • ability to mediate under pressure to resolve differences using a strengthâs-based approach.

  • flexible to work some evenings and weekends

  • current unrestricted drivers licence

  • fully vaccinated (2x minimum) against Covid-19.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in Out of Home Care

  • Knowledge of the Permanency Support Program (PSP)

  • Working knowledge of the various legislationâs that govern Out of Home Care in NSW
