About the Role:

WorkPac are seeking an experienced Closure Planning Specialist to work in the team with Rio Tinto and support the business with all aspects of closure planning.

Reporting to the Superintendent Closure Planning, this role is a great opportunity to provide advice to the business to assess, manage and minimise risks as they relate to closure. The successful candidate will be working Monday to Friday with limited travel to our operations in the Pilbara.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Develop site closure plans to meet Rio Tinto and regulatory requirements.

• Understand environmental and regulatory requirements with respect to closure.

• Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the development of closure options through participation of mining and closure studies.

• Use your technical knowledge to inform risk management, stakeholder engagement and ensure closure aspects are considered in our mine planning, design and operation.

• Identify opportunities for progressive rehabilitation.

• Be involved in business improvement projects.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or related field

• Demonstrated experience in preparing mine closure plans for mining operations

• Project and/or contractor management experience

• Experience in mining, rehabilitation and/or environmental management

• Strong communication skills

• Excellent technical writing skills
