Construction Manager

  • FIFO from Brisbane 5/2 Roster to Moranbah (or DIDO)

About our Client

Our Client is a multi-national mining company operating open-pit coal mines that produce high quality coal.

About the Role

We are seeking a Construction Manager to to join the Mine on a FIFO (from Brisbane) or DIDO 5/2 Roster to Moranbah. The site is located approximately 30 minute drive from Moranbah in Queensland.

The assignment duration is until June 2023.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Project Manager, and will oversee the contractor workforce in the delivery of a large capital project at site, ensuring the project is delivered safely to requirements. Accountable for the establishment of the project safety culture by acting as an icon of HSE excellence. e.g. ensuring a culture of reporting, leading project site safety audits, initiating incident reports and participating in investigations

Required Skills

  • A extensive background in Civil and Mining including knowledge of bulk earthworks

  • The ability to work in a QLD Coal Mine (S11, medical)

  • QLD Coal Supervisor course (S1, S2, S3)

  • RIIRIS402D Facilitate Risk Management (G2)

  • A high level of written and verbal communication

  • Proficient user of MS Office software inc. Word, Outlook, Excel and Project

  • Current Open Driving Licence

Responsibilities

In your role as Construction Manager you will;

  • Provide leadership and direction in construction, developing project/program construction strategies, standards and frameworks.

  • Participate in the development of the project risk assessment and review processes

  • Ensure contractors implement the requirements of the site Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) and the commitments of the project/contract health and safety management plan

  • Monitor contractor compliance and instruct rectification when required

  • Establish positive and productive working relationships with key stakeholders

  • Demonstrate safety leadership through the field leadership processes and record outcomes.

  • Manage contract scope to deliver within agreed contract value and support provide to Lead Project Delivery as required

  • Support contract tender technical evaluation

  • Review master schedule for âdeliverabilityâ and contribute to range analysis

  • Manage contractor (including interfaces) and contract scope to deliver within schedule

  • Manage contractor schedule outcomes based on actual performance, progress drivers and resourcing.

  • Detailed and robust reporting on Contractor actuals and forecast (safety, quality, risk and compliance, cost and schedule).

  • Manage contractor to deliver commissioned system inclusive of completion of punch-items (contractor interface issues)

  • Engage with operations personnel as works near completion to ensure punch items are identified early and rectified (inclusive of documentation and training requirements). Include early close-out of out of scope items

  • Participate/ Lead/ Conduct investigations of safety and environmental incidents
