Electrical / Instrumentation Technician

About the role:

Our Client is looking for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Technician working within the team at the Deer Park Chemical Manufacturing Facility. This is a permanent full-time position and will operate 5 days per week. The successful candidate will report to the Superintendent.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing execution of safe and efficient electrical and instrumentation maintenance for the Deer Park Specialty Emulsifier Plant.

What you will be doing:

  • Complying with site safety, health and environmental systems, policies and procedures.

  • Executing all aspects of electrical and instrumentation maintenance to the Deer Park SEP Site.

  • Investigating, analysing and determining root causes of E plant failures.

  • Applying continuous improvement strategies to improve plant reliability and availability.

  • Optimising the CMMS (SAP) system to record work order history, procuring spares and notifying of identified plant equipment faults.

  • Providing maintenance cover during plant breakdowns and emergencies outside of normal required working hours.

  • Preparing and reviewing work instructions and procedures.

  • Participating in plant modification and upgrade projects and being involved in commissioning to facilitate transfer of the installation to operation.

  • Participating in pre-shutdown work scoping and facilitate shutdown execution.

  • Coordinating and leading day to day maintenance activities from the maintenance plan and breakdowns where required.

  • Coordinating and communicating with Planners, Mechanical and Electrical Technicians, Electrical Engineers and Operations to complete and resolve both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.

  • Developing quality work scopes for work order initiators requiring engineering modifications, trials and live work.

What you will bring

  • Qualifications in Electrical and Instrumentation Trade.

  • Maintenance experience in a chemical plant or related heavy industry.

  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills;

  • Ability to interpret P drawings;

  • Experience in DCS, PLC Programming, Instrumentation Design set-up and commissioning;

  • Computer skills in MS Office, SAP (desirable); and Good written and oral communication skills.
