About the Role:

WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Employee Relations Officer to commence at a role for a local client in Mackay. You will be working on a 3-month contract with possibility to extend in Mackay with successful candidates starting as soon as possible. Our client is a national group of companies engaged in engineering design, construction and land development for clients and partners in the urban development, transport infrastructure and resources. The Company has a strong commitment to Health and Safety, which enables to deliver a larger scale of multi-disciplinary projects all over Australia.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and support to the Manager People and Culture, the People and Culture, Employee Services and

  • Payroll teams on employee relations matters, in

  • Consultation with the Employee Relations Coordinator.

  • Provide industrial relations and understand bargaining, Awards and relevant employment legislation.

  • Deliver educational programs and provide information on People and Culture initiatives.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures and processes.

  • Undertake, report and make recommendations on more complex employee and industrial relations investigations.

  • Provide advice and support to Supervisors and Managers on more complex performance management matters.

  • Work with the Return to Work and Rehabilitation Coordinator

  • Ensure the effective control, release and management of confidential sensitive employee and industrial relations records.

  • Other responsibilities as delegated within the scope of this position

    About You:

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, industrial relations, and performance management.

  • Well-developed negotiation and consultation skills, and the ability to exercise confidentiality, tact and discretion.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, awards and industrial agreements for staff and management.

  • Strong workplace coaching skills.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality, tact and discretion.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, awards and industrial agreements for staff and management.

  • Well-developed communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to communicate at all levels of an organisation.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
