About the Role:

Our client is currently seeking an Engineer with a Communications background to support the Communication technicians at their 7 Mile Rail Facility in Dampier. Support and training will be provided.

• Support and mentor a team of Communications technicians

• Basic understanding and knowledge of the following systems to support and maintain the Rio Tinto network.

• DWDM/SDH/PDH transmission Network, LTE Network

• Analogue radio systems (UHF Two-way radios, Mx800 radios , Raytheon voters, Audio bridges..)

• RF Wireless network and IP Network Including Cisco Routers and Switches

• CCTV Network, DC and solar Power systems, Fibre Optic , Modular Mining Systems

• You will be expected to carry out SATs (Site Acceptance Tests)

• Ad-hoc hands-on involvement will be required working in conjunction with technicians when critical systems fail or require maintenance

• Involvement in change management processes and Updating drawings and maintenance procedures

Skills, Experiences and Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelors degree in telecommunications network engineering/Electronics engineering

• Effective analytical and investigative skills

• Demonstrated high level of technical problem-solving ability

• Self-motivated with strong communication skills

• Highly developed skills in the diagnosis and rectification of fault conditions on communications services and technologies

• Desirable Qualification in Asset Management or equivalent knowledge.

• Network certification(s) is desirable including Cisco - CCNA/CCNP

• Preferable to have knowledge of at least one programming language i.e Java, Python, C#..

• Desirable Experience in the following technologies;

• RF wireless Communications including Microwave packet radios, WIMAX Network, Point-to-Point Wireless Bridges and UHF IP radios

• SDH/PDH transmission network , LTE Network, SCADA ,Cisco Network, DC and solar Power systems
