About the Client
Our client is private girls school and is well known for their focus on academic excellence, quality learning and teaching, and it's commitment to pastoral care. We are currently seeking a Facility Officer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis at their school based in North Brisbane.
About the Role
The purpose of the role of the Facilities Officer is to work as part of a team to support the efficient management of the School's facilities by providing minor building and facilities maintenance, event and function setup and pull down, traffic marshalling and general facilities duties. This extends to utilising relevant trade qualifications and skills to support the work of the Facilities Department. This role will be working a Monday to Friday roster, 9:00am to 5:00pm with occasional Saturday work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures and safe work practices in general.
Set up and pack down of material and equipment for functions and events
Support the School's traffic management arrangement by provide traffic marshalling duties during peak school times
Provide general building and facilities maintenance services within skill set
Assist grounds personnel with grounds maintenance work
Monitor and maintain plant and equipment to ensure safe and compliant operation.
Coordinate and liaise with external contractors who carry out maintenance on School property as required.
Monitor the condition of furniture, carrying out repairs and removing graffiti
Provide general cleaning and labouring duties including but not limited to: paths, verandas and walkways, amenities blocks and areas, spillages, graffiti, refuse and recycling bins
Distribution of stores and materials throughout the school
Skills and Experience
Energetic with a positive can-do attitude and the physical capability to perform the required tasks in a predominantly outdoor environment.
Current drivers licence.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with members of the School and wider community.
Proven ability to follow direction and use a common sense approach to complete tasks.
Excellent understanding of OH issues as they relate to facilities maintenance.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve shared goals, often in tight timeframes.
Willingness to support the School?s core values and Anglican ethos.
