The Opportunity
We are looking for an Earthworks Supervisor to supervise earthworks and deliver field logistics and operational support for exploration projects. The Growth & Innovation group operates through the entire life cycle of Rio Tintos mines and assets, creating value through exploration, project development and technical excellence. Working in close partnership with all product groups, it focuses on finding safer, smarter and more efficient ways to manage resources and operations.
About the role
The Earthworks Supervisor must enjoy irregular travel and being part of the exploration teams and working in remote locations. Reporting to the Regional Project coordinator, you will be:
Training/coaching less experienced team members
Supervisor of Earthworks contractors in the field, including access tracks, drill site pads and rehabilitation
Working with Project Managers and Ground disturbance approval
Providing generalist skills across a range of tasks and activities including remote camp establishment, ongoing Contractor Supervision, Environmental and Safety processes
Supervising and overseeing the work of contractors in the field
Leading by example and taking a hands-on approach in the field as required
It will also be beneficial if you have
Field Project coordinator experience
Earthmoving operator experience
Mechanical aptitude, Supervision of Earthworks contractors experience, GPS knowledge
Proven ability to develop positive and productive team relationships with a wide range of people
Computer literacy, ArcGis / Mapinfo experience, HR, LF High Risk License
