  • $45.00 - $60.00 Flat Rate hourly, 6 month casual position

  • Great opportunity to work in a global mining organisation within one of Australia's largest dedicated teams of Field Hydrogeologists.

  • Working on a family friendly 8/6 FIFO roster in the Pilbara, Western Australia.

About the role

We are looking for a Field Hydrogeologist to provide technical leadership and oversight of the hydrogeological field programs within Rio Tinto Iron Ore's (RTIO's) Resource Development Division.

Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Water Resource Evaluation Senior Field Hydrogeologist for your respective site.

  • Supervising technical aspects of the drilling, installation and aquifer testing of water supply, dewatering, reinjection, and groundwater monitoring infrastructure.

  • Daily collection, entry and interpretation of hydrogeological data; writing of field program completion reports and conducting analyses of aquifer testing data.

  • Work collaboratively with the Lead Hydrogeologists and Contract Partners to execute the Scope of Works;

  • Maintain adherence to scientific method during the collection of water quality samples in accordance with RTIO and relevant regulatory guidelines.

  • Arrange and oversee timely dispatch of samples to accredited testing laboratories.

  • Maintenance and care of field equipment to enable the safe and efficient collection of data and samples.

  • Organisation of logistical support for monitoring programmes;

Skills & Experience

  • An unrestricted 'C' Class Driver's Licence;

  • A minimum Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Hydrogeology or Geoscience field;

  • Commitment to health, safety and environment, promoting positive behaviour and a supportive safety culture through visible leadership;

  • Be highly attuned to issues of hydrogeological data capture, quality control and information workflow;

  • Experience driving in steep / difficult terrain and remote locations;

  • Excellent communication / time management skills and ability to work within a dynamic team environment.
