Health & Safety Partner

About the Role

As a Health & Safety Partner you will act as a key representative who will be responsible for providing support, advice and outcomes aligned with health & safety risk management, compliance and performance improvement for the business. This position will run for an initial 3 months with the potential for extension working Monday to Friday based out of our clients Darra office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act in line with company policy, actively contributing to creating a high-performance, values-based company culture

  • Deliver the highest standard in professional conduct, personal presentation and company image

  • Contribute to maintaining a respectful workplace for all employees

  • Lead safety awareness and compliance activities within your nominated region including communication in relevant forums such as Toolbox talks and WHSE Meetings.

  • Implement company policies, programs and initiatives for continuous improvement around health and safety risk management, visible safety leadership and Home Safe activities in region

  • Ensure compliance to the internal inspection and audit schedules, and support all external audits within region including regulatory compliance audits, certification audits, customer audits and HS Management Standard Audits

  • Lead or support rigorous and timely H&S incident investigation, utilizing the HSE functional team and line management

  • Ensuring the allocated business unit budget is maintained and considering operational requirements and budget restrictions

Skills and Experience

  • Qualification/s in Occupational Health and Safety or similar discipline

  • Minimum 4 years - experience in HSE or Compliance role.

  • Previous experience across high-risk industry environments

  • Basic understanding and experience working in transport, resource recovery, reuse, waste management, treatment, and recycling practices - Preferable

  • Exposure to incident and investigations and route cause analysis

  • Experience in supporting the implementation of H&S initiatives and programs

  • Incident and investigation and route cause analysis (ICAM)

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - Desirable.
