Manufacturing Technician

Job description

  • Ongoing work

  • Based in Kewdale

  • 40 hours per week

We are seeking experienced Manufacturing Technicians for ongoing work in Kewdale. The purpose of this role will be to manufacture and repair prototype, production and purpose-built vehicle bodies such as trucks, fire engines and trailers.

Duties:

  • Using special shaping, welding, bolting and cutting machinery and equipment

  • Cutting and fastening panels of sheet metal, stainless steel, reinforced plastic or aluminium for covering the framework.

  • Installing and removal of mechanical components.

  • Designing and conducting vehicle framework alterations in consultation with engineers.

  • Modifying assembly line vehicles to comply with special requirements.

  • Design and fit mechanised equipment, such as winches, water pumps and hoists.

  • Install door handles, locks and hinges

  • Design, manufacture and installation of purpose build modules

  • Registering or licensing of final completed vehicles etc.

  • Service and testing of fire appliances

  • Ability to read drawings of engineers and instructions to build framework

  • Using special shaping, welding, bolting and cutting machinery and equipment

To be successful you will need to have:

  • Trade cert in Mechanical Body Builder or Boiler Maker

  • Be willing to complete a pre employment medical

  • Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques

  • Knowledge of raw materials

  • Knowledge of machines and tools
