Mechanical Projects Engineer

About Our Client:

Our client is Australiaâs leading supplier of cementitious products and services, delivering products across a range of industries from heavy industrial manufacturing operations, coal and limestone mines, bulk distribution transport fleet, rail and shipping interactions and hazardous waste treatment and alternative fuel production (Geocycle).

About the Position:

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Projects Engineer to join the team at their Gladstone site.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the candidate will be accountable for the full project lifecycle of expansion and critical end of life replacement projects, from conception through to execution and handover. This is a dynamic role with ownership over multiple projects at any one point in time. This role is 1 month in duration.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure your allocated portfolio of projects are executed successfully, including capex and shutdown works

  • Take an active leadership role in safety, health, and compliance activities, including JSEAâs, HAZOPs, risk assessments and incident investigations

  • Making a positive contribution to the SHE cultures and performance of the site, with a focus on project contractors

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, challenging the status quo and generating ideas to improve plant, process, and people performance

  • Provide clear communication between all key stakeholders (internal and external) and provide effective presentations, progress reports and updates

  • Ensure effective use of project management techniques, tools, engineering methods and standards are applied for projects

  • Play a key role in the implementation of Cement Australiaâs decarbonization roadmap and technologies

Skills and Experience:

  • Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer with operational experience in heavy industry materials handling, preferably in cement manufacturing

  • Mechanical trade or Mechanical Engineering tertiary qualifications

  • Diploma in Project Management (or equivalent)

  • 7+ yearsâ experience working in a mechanical engineering or project engineering role, within cement manufacturing

  • Extensive shutdown / maintenance experience within execution or project management for fixed plant

  • Proven experience being successfully accountable for projects across the full project life cycle

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Effective report writing and presentation abilities

  • Proficiency with SAP and the MS Office suite

  • Good working knowledge of project management methodology (exposure to PMBOK preferred)

  • Ability and willingness to reside in Gladstone or surrounds (no FIFO)

The ideal candidate will be a team player, brilliant communicator, outcomes focused and able to influence and engage stakeholders with ease. Ability to make decisions, be across the detail and have the highest level of consideration for safety and risk at each step. Technical expertise combined with a passion for project management and broad engineering knowledge will assist in navigating the âwhy❠and âhow❠to ensure each project is a commercial and operational success.

This is a Monday to Friday role with an expected duration of 1 month.
