Job description

About the Role

The role is to provide technical plumbing advice in relation to assessment and compliance of plumbing functions for the local council. You will be required to ensure the public health and environmental values are maintained within compliance with the relevant legislation, as well as other codes and standards. The implementation of the SEQ Water OSFâs program to clean up the Sunshine Coast catchments. The role is technical in nature and includes implementing as well as managing the program and education of homeowners as well as liaising with SEQ Water.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, implement and deliver a program designed to educate homeowners of their obligations associated with on-site sewerage facilities (OSFâs)

  • Assess and determine plumbing applications (including applications for OSFâs) for proposed works on all building classes in accordance with relevant legislation and council policies

  • Conduct, respond, investigate and endeavor to resolve any compliance matters in relation to alleged violations of relevant legislation for plumbing and drainage

  • Undertake enforcement actions in accordance with relevant legislation (Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018), inclusive of representing council in Court and Development Tribunal hearings

  • Preparation of documentation, correspondence, reports and briefing notes relevant to the plumbing and drainage matters, inclusive of codes and policies relating to environmental aspects of development in the region

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) occupational plumbing and drainage and open car licence

  • Substantial experience in the assessment of the plumbing applications, including (OSFâs)

  • Relevant experience within the plumbing industry including OSFâs and backflow prevention

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and implementing relevant legislation for plumbing and drainage as well as other codes and standards

  • Proven experience with mediation, negotiation and problem resolution regarding relevant legislative matters
