Rio Tinto operates the world's largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets. Rio Tinto are expanding operations in the Pilbara to epic proportions while introducing next generation technologies to deliver greater efficiency, lower production costs and improved health, safety and environmental performance.

About the Role:

WorkPac are currently seeking a Project Communications Specialist to coordinate and develop our Client, Rio Tinto's external and internal communication requirements for a project related to celebrating Indigenous culture. This role is offering 20-30 hours per week, on a Monday to Friday roster for an initial 12 month duration.

You will promote an engaging and culturally competent persona and deliver unique story elements to support this unique project. Your enthusiasm and positive attitude will help you gain the trust of colleagues and external parties alike.

Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Develop and implement a multi-media, tactical Communications Plan for the project

  • As part of your plan delivercompelling and engaging content including written stories, digital tiles, video content; campaign collateral; social media posts and other content as identified

  • Plan and execute events

  • Have strong project management and coordination skills

  • Be able to inform and influence leaders on the progress of the project

  • Coordinate the creative development of communications ensuring cut through

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as communications specialist

  • Solid background and keen interest in internal and corporate communications but may also have experience in other corporate affairs disciplines such as media relations or marketing

  • Strong copywriting skills and a good understanding of how to adapt writing and content for various channels and audiences

  • Solid understanding of project management principles

  • Ability to manage several projects and prioritise

  • Experience developing and implementing creative campaigns

  • Experience in communications teams that work closely with other corporate affairs disciplines including media relations, social media and branding teams

  • Solid communication / interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders and build effective partnerships

  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related business and communication tools.

  • Degree in Bachelor of Communications or related discipline.
