About the Role:

WorkPac are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to be part of the Rail Network Renewals Engineering Team. The successful candidates will work an Monday to Friday roster. This role will be casual with an ongoing duration. This role is a great opportunity to work in a dynamic team that is responsible for delivering Rio Tinto Rail Divisions capital renewals program.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The annual renewals program includes turnout renewals, level crossing renewals, plain line renewals, high output ballast cleaning, sleeper replacement and rail replacement. Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent you will be required to:

  • Take projects from design through to execution and closeout

  • Work with the project team and internal stakeholders to plan major track renewal works

  • Complete engineering activities in accordance with RTIO engineering standards and practices

  • Participate in design and constructability reviews

  • Support staging, planning and methodology development for track renewal works

  • Support the execution of renewal works within a multi-disciplined heavy haul rail environment

  • Support in the management of scope, time, and quality of the project

  • Govern the delivery of planned works in alignment with RTIO standards and procedures

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Tertiary qualification in either Mechanical or Civil Engineering/Construction or similar

  • Sound knowledge of engineering, construction and design

  • Experience in a large infrastructure environment

  • Ability to apply logical and critical thinking skills to projects

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Project

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to work in a team and prioritise tasks & common goals

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders
