About the Role

WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer for Rio Tinto, Rail Operations. Perth based, Monday to Friday at the Rio Tinto Operations Centre by the Perth Airport. 12-month contract with possible extension.

The ???Mainline Productivity Team, is part of the AutoHaul and Rail Productivity Division. The team are responsible for executing complex and technical end to end projects spanning across various rail systems and assets, including the worlds first automated heavy haul trains AutoHaul.

The opportunity is to join a high-value, innovative and highly visible team in a front-facing role embedded within Rio Tintos Rail Operations. To be successful for the role, the candidate will need to have project engineering experience in rail systems, strong engineering, analytical and critical thinking skills, strong engagement, and the ability to manage through influence.

Duties include:

• Build business cases for new AutoHaul or Train Control System improvements, to delivering improved cycle time, fuel saving or tonnage capacity.

• Identifying operational bottlenecks in the rail system through deep analytics.

• Identifying opportunities to increase system sprint capacity through deep analytics.

• Manage AutoHaul??studies with key partners at Hitachi/NYAB. The role is the key interface with our strategic partners.

• Building Concept of Operations and Engineering Change Notifications.

• Sign off on Functional Acceptance Tests for system changes.

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments in line with Rio Tinto standards.

• Management of Change for system changes.

• Facilitating stakeholder workshops and end-user engagements.

Skills and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering or similar

• 10+ years experience in engineering, including 3+ years as a Senior Engineer.

• Knowledge in Rail Signalling and Rail Engineering (preferred)

• Rio Systems knowledge (preferred)

• WA C Class Drivers Licence
