About The Role

WorkPac are seeking a Project Manager to lead, plan, coordinate, manage and deliver field logistics and operational support for the advanced exploration project "Winu", located in the eastern Pilbara region of Western Australia. The advanced nature of the project means that, in addition to managing operations today, you will play a key role in shaping the operations and logistics functions as the project expands to start onsite construction.

This role is a great opportunity for someone with proven leadership and generalist supervisory field experience to play a vital role within the Rio Tinto Exploration Logistics and Operations team. The Project Manager must enjoy being part of the team, working in a remote location, have a passion for project management and the coordination of logistics and operational requirements. Contractor and Contract Management Systems are an integral part of this role and you will have the opportunity to influence and shape the way these are implemented. You will work a site-based roster (15 days on 6 days off) and 5 days in the Perth office.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain contracts with external providers of operational support and logistics services; set and monitor service level agreements and undertake related reporting.

  • Work with the Operational Readiness and Resource Development teams to understand project requirements and advise, plan and implement, allocate, coordinate project operational support and logistics needs.

  • Provide generalist skills across a range of tasks and activities including the project management of remote camp establishment, ongoing contractor management, environmental and safety processes.

  • Manage work rosters and oversee the work of contractors in the field to ensure adherence and compliance to the project's Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) standards.

  • Train and mentor team members with HSEC policies and procedures as well as operating skills.

  • Ensure the purchasing and receipting of project requirements and services are met.

  • Financial analysis and fiscal management of spend on camp infrastructure and logistics.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a mixed employee and contractor workforce.

  • Experience working in remote field-based environments with exposure to a wide range of field related tasks and managing field staff across multiple projects.

  • Able to assess project needs, coordinate logistics and operational support tasks, and prioritise work to achieve project outcomes.

  • Able to assess and apply practical judgement to identify hazards and risks, and take mitigating action to achieve safe and effective practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve operational problems, adapt to change quickly and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency.

  • Aptitude to work in field and office environments, both for extended periods of time.

  • Diploma in Project Management.

  • Proven ability to develop positive and productive team relationships with a wide range of people.

  • Extensive remote field experience and management of field teams.

  • Camp Management experience / freight and general logistics.

  • First hand experience working with and/or mentoring Traditional Owner employees or businesses.
