Purchasing Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Purchasing Officer to work based out of their Murarrie office. In the role you will procure and expedite materials, services, and effectively expedite orders to ensure delivery deadlines are met in a timely and effective manner. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further career in the purchasing space for a 6 month contract.

Key Duties

  • Create and manage purchase orders and RFQs in a timely manner, ensuring compliance to company policies and procedures, and total cost

  • Effectively expediting orders to ensure delivery dates are met, and providing internal customers with timely updates about changes to PO delivery dates or costs when these occur

  • Manage workflows to resolve invoicing issues and ensure suppliers are paid on time

  • Identify and deliver savings opportunities to contribute to savings targets

  • Provide advice and guidance to internal customers in a timely manner

  • Support internal customers with ad hoc training of systems and processes

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years - demonstrable experience in a similar role, preferably in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment or within the mining/resources sector.

  • Qualifications in purchasing/supply chain management desirable.

  • Strong computer skills in MS Office and SAP MM.

  • Effective negotiation and influencing skills.

  • Understanding and application of procurement and corporate policies and contractual implications.

  • Ability to a managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
