About the Role

WorkPac are seeking an experienced Rehabilitation Design Engineer to join Rio Tinto's Rehabilitation & Closure team in Perth. This individual will assist the Rehabilitation Planning Specialist to provide Rehabilitation designs to a standard that meets RTIO design guidelines, supporting the 2021 and 2022 rehabilitation implementation schedule. Rehabilitation activity may involve landform shaping, topsoil placement and seeding.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise detailed rehabilitation designs and documentation.

• Balance cut fill volumes for reshaping.

• Encapsulate and Cap designs where required.

• Design of bunds (toe, crest & abandonment) as directed by RTIO Rehab personnel.

• Supply work plans showing interim designs including ramp placement and material movements.

• Produce QAQC assessment and reconciliation of designs versus as-built waste rock structures.

• Design outputs in a format such that they can be imported into RTIO software systems (e.g. Vulcan, ARCGIS).

• Supply work memoranda in sufficient detail to allow RTIO Rehab personnel to construct final Design Memoranda.

• Provide weekly update on design progress including active work hours for budget tracking.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in mine rehabilitation design.

• Strong understanding of rehabilitation design concepts.

• Exposure to Vulcan and GIS systems.

• Strong decision-making capability along with ability to work autonomously.

• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
