Study Specialist Non-contracted

About the Role

We are currently seeking a study specialist in asset projects, supporting the development of a HV power portfolio, which consists of two projects:

  • Loss of Power risk reduction project, focussed on the replacement of two existing transformers and associated infrastructure ; and

  • A new SMA substation and switchyard, which will commence study in July 2021.

The position will be for 12 months starting in July, and will be part of a lead team of three people for the studies. The role will be Adelaide based with occasional short visits to site required from time to time for site inspections etc.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of the identification, selection and definition phase studies as directed by Study Leads

  • Develop and obtain support / approval from internal stakeholders on key project documentation and integrate functional inputs

  • Ensure project changes and decisions are clearly documented throughout the development phase and all documentation is completed and formally handed over to the delivery team

  • Support the development of engineering deliverables in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, assuring compliance to project and engineering standards

  • Support value optimisation activities during the development of projects, including application of value improvement practices, and engineering scope optimisation

  • Support risk management activities during the development of projects

  • Capture and communicate internal lessons learned and external best practices across the project and identify opportunities for improvement.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will support the Study lead in the development of two large power infrastructure projects for Olympic Dam

  • Experience with project development processes, from concept through to delivery is highly desirable. This includes experience in engineering design, scope development, as well as familiarity with project management principles

  • Experience in project risk management, and can lead the development of supporting risk management documentation for the studies

  • Experience in management of Contractors to meet scope, cost and schedule requirements

  • Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to write in a clear, direct and succinct manner to efficiently convey concepts and ideas

  • Able to facilitate meetings and workshops with multiple stakeholders

  • Able to apply analytical thinking, and structured logic to solve problems

  • Able to work as part of a small close knit leadership team

  • Able to form positive working relationships with stakeholders

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management, or related fields

  • Experience in high voltage infrastructure advantageous

  • Minimum of 5 yearsâ experience in an Operational / Engineering / Project role
