About the Role:

WorkPac are seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent join our leading Civil and Engineering Construction client for a casual position, for an 2- 3month initial duration. This position will be based on site in the Pilbara and Western Range projects, and will have a 2 Week On, 1 Week Off roster, FIFO from the Perth Airport. Remuneration is currently open to negotiation.

Our client has secured a major construction contract on a Paraburdoo site in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The iron ore project includes Greenfields and Brownfields scope with the construction of a new Run of Mine (ROM) pad, primary crushing facility, overland conveying circuit and modifications to the Coarse Ore Stockpile (COS) and downstream conveying system.

The Greenfields scope includes a new primary crushing facility, discharge conveyor and transfer station and a 17-kilometre overland conveying system that transfers the ore through to the existing Paraburdoo COS. The overland conveying system includes multiple conveyor flights, transfer stations and creek crossings to link the new primary crusher to the existing process plant.

The Brownfields scope includes extensive modifications to the current Paraburdoo COS and downstream conveying system. This includes addition of new feed points at the COS, new ore transfer equipment, conveyor replacements, conveyor upgrades, drive replacements and a range of other general modifications to receive the new ore stream.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide and maintain a safe working environment, managing the safety and environmental performance of all personnel on site in line with the HSE Plan

  • Ensure that safety is an integral component of all construction planning and processes

  • Plan work activities and identify hazards and controls in consultation with employees

  • Liaise with client representatives regarding technical queries, inspections and project scheduling

  • Oversee the standard and progress of subcontractors' work

  • Execute the construction portion of project plans through detailed planning and day-to-day direction of field activities

  • Conduct and record site inspections and risk assessments (including hazard identification, risk analysis and control)

  • Communicate and report on HSE issues/incidents (e.g. toolbox meetings) and participate in the resolution of HSE issues

  • Take accountability for employees and sub-contractors within your crew

  • Provide accurate daily, weekly and monthly reports

Skills and Experience:

  • Prior WA Irone Ore Site Exposure (Preferred).

  • Previous demonstrated experience as a Civil Superintendent

  • Site based earthworks experience

  • Previous carpentry experience (highly desirable)

  • Relevant trade qualifications and white/blue card

  • Strong leadership qualities
