About the Role
WorkPac are currently seeking a Biological Advisor to join our clients Pilbara Environment and Cultural Knowledge team in Perth (with possible occasional site travel). Focusing on flora, vegetation and fauna within the Pilbara region. This role is a great opportunity for a motivated, safety conscious professional to join a multi-disciplined team; applying knowledge of relevant legislation and technical guides to Pilbara-focused environmental approvals and associated surveys. In this role you will be based in Perth, working Monday to Friday (sometimes weekend field trips are required) and 40 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare technical reports, data, analysis and provide technical advice to support government and environmental approval requirements
Contribute to the development and improvement of biological assessment methods, processes and technologies to ensure continuous improvement
Contribute to biological surveys in remote Pilbara areas for candidates who able to are able to mobilise to the Pilbara
Undertake effective survey planning including, sampling design, logistics and health and safety
Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and technical specialists.
Skills & Experience Required:
Australian C Class Drivers Licence
Tertiary qualifications in environmental discipline or related.
Demonstrated experience as a field botanist/biologist, ideally within the resources sector
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills coupled with an ability to think on your feet and make sound rational decisions
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to quickly develop positive and robust relationships with stakeholders.
Experience with GIS software, preferably ArcGIS
Experience/awareness of remote sensing techniques and environmental applications
