About the Role

WorkPac are currently seeking a Local Laws Officer to join our client???s team. In this role you will deliver and assist with the coordination and implementation of Local Law activities in accordance with Weipa Town Authority???s Local Laws Acts and regulations. This role will be a permanent position with the client, 40 hours per week with an alternating week on week off on call roster.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement Weipa Town Authority Local Laws and State legislation, including animal management, water management, Qld nuisance laws, and other Local Government related enforcement functions.

• Assist with the implementation of the Animal Management Plan, including undertaking an annual animal systematic inspection program (audit).

• Actively promote an understanding of and compliance with Local Laws by providing information, support and community education programs.

• Ability to provide a high standard of customer service, including providing practical advice/solutions, providing timely response and dealing with the public.

• Investigate, report recommendations and take enforcement action relating to community complaints.

• Assist with the development and review of policies, procedures and management plans.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Experience in Local Government, animal management, local laws enforcement, customer service and other related fields.

• Cert IV in Animal Regulation and Management or willingness to obtain

• The ability and willingness to work with animals.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to resolve conflict and deal with difficult people and situations.

• Well-developed time management and prioritisation skills of own work.

• Good literacy and computer skills.

• A current Queensland C (Car) class manual driver's licence.
