About the Role:
WorkPac are looking for an ambitious and driven Marine Project Engineer to support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of sustaining capital projects for our Client Rio Tinto's Dampier Operations. Based in Perth, this role will support the Project Lead in delivering a portfolio of marine projects in a safe and timely manner from pre-feasibility through to implementation and closure of the project.

This position is a great opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic project professional to extend their expertise and apply their project knowledge to a diverse range of Fixed Plant brownfields projects.

You will be an inspiring role model and coach for positive behaviours, practices and processes, whilst providing leadership, development and support to a team of project professionals responsible for delivering a portfolio of projects from pre-feasibility study phase, through to implementation and closure of the project.


Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Support the delivery of the portfolio of sustaining capital marine projects from pre-feasibility, through feasibility and into implementation

  • Develop & review project documentation and technical packs

  • Monitor project progress and compliance to schedule

  • Review and implement project plans, documents and standards

  • Review and develop responses to Consultant and Contractor TQs / RFIs in a timely manner

  • Review contractor QA/QC deliverables and ensure compliance with RTIO / industry standards

  • Validate contractor QA/QC activities in the field and ensure companies expectations are met

  • Monitor and report on contractor scope completion and correlate to contractors progress payments

  • Develop site instructions and variations with support for the contracts team

  • Develop Close Out documentation for each scope item within each scope

  • Ensure all site construction activities are delivered in line with approved scope of works and technical standards

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Relevant tertiary engineering degree

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive and trusting relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Project management / project engineering experience within a mining, marine or heavy industrial environment.

  • A current C class driver's license.

  • Previous experience delivering projects for large scale mining clients will be beneficial.

  • Knowledge of maritime structural engineering and / or coastal engineering will be advantageous.
