Mechanical Project Engineer

8/6 roster FIFO from Perth

Based on site at Cape Lambert

12 month duration with potential for extension

About our client:

Rio Tinto operates the worlds largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets. About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join Rio Tinto, Sustaining Capital CLAHDO Project Team. Initially, you'll be based at our Perth Head office with ad-hoc site travel until February 2024, then you'll transition to a site-based role on an 8/6 roster. This role will be for a 12 month duration with potential to extend.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Ensure the safe and timely execution of major shutdowns, minimising their duration and aligning them with operational needs.

Demonstrate a strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) during shutdown and tie-in activities.

Assure compliance with technical standards, project schedules, quality, and HSE management systems.

Monitor project progress, schedule adherence, costs, and contractor scope completion.

Uphold RTIO Values: Care, Courage, Curiosity, and foster a proactive and safe working culture.

Collaborate with the commissioning team, CLA Operations, and Operational Readiness teams during plant and equipment start-up.

Review and develop responses to Consultant and Contractor TQs / RFIs in a timely manner;

Implementing construction control measures and targets, managing construction to scope, budget, schedule and quality standards.

Skills & Experience Required:

A Mechanical Engineering degree.

At least 5 years of experience as a Project Engineer.

The ability to meet commercial outcomes through budget management and financial performance monitoring.

Significant experience in mining, the resource sector, or a related industry.

Experience in construction within a brownfield environment.

Project engineering experience in a mining or industrial environment.

Previous project engineering experience in a brownfield environment (beneficial).

Previous project engineering experience in a shutdown environment (beneficial).
