Planning And Building Support Officer

About the Position:

In partnership with our building and design client, WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Planning and Building Support Officer based within Wellend Office. This position will be Monday to Friday Roster, 38 hours per week for temp (6 months) to permanent position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with councils, consultants and other agencies during the planning and building approval process

  • Tracking progress and resolving planning and building development issues as they arise with key stake holders

  • Coordinate the installation of gas, water meters and sewer connections with relevant authorities

  • Coordinate electricity connections / disconnections with service providers

  • Provide all relevant documentation including compliance certificates during the key stages of construction

  • Confirm with Site Managers that inspections are co-ordinated at key stages of construction

  • Supporting workflow and completing critical tasks during the construction process

  • Managing contract changes and raising variations as they arise

  • Responding to internal and external queries in a timely manner

  • Effectively communicating and maintaining the professional link between clients and site personnel to ensure feedback and resolution

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a building company, ideally in a similar role

  • An understanding of both preliminary plans and working drawings

  • A sound understanding of the planning / building approval process

  • Experience engaging and coordinating external consultants

  • Experience in a customer focussed role with conflict and problem management focus

  • Proven ability to work in a time critical working environment

  • Highly organised with the ability to multi-task and deal with a variety of activities

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proven ability to work in a positive and professional manner in a goal orientated environment

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft suite

  • Excellent organisational and management skills

  • Ability to work autonomously within a professional team environment
